Scope
This flagship project illustrates the versatility of resin flooring and how it can be both aesthetically pleasing in a commercial application, and functional as a durable solution for a whole host of environments, not just factories and warehouses.
The Flooring Spec
A floor that was able to withstand high levels of footfall at one time was an essential requirement to fulfil the needs of the environment as the floor would be exposed to potentially hundreds of thousands of people visiting Twickenham Stadium in its lifetime.

The Solution
Completing the work involved an assortment of captive shot blasting to concrete and vacuum controlled diamond grinding to screed areas.
The solution supplied involved installing 3000m2 of Sika Schönox FPL Plus levelling screed and Sika ComfortFloor® PS-27 with concrete repairs over 4 levels of the stadium (levels 1, 2, 4a and 5).
The client specified a consistent, seamless finish and zones demarcated by different colours, so we offered the ComfortFloor® System as a solution, due to its large selection of colour and design options. There are 70 standard Sika ComfortFloor® colours available, with the ability to produce almost any RAL Classic or NCS 1950 colour as required.
For this project, RAL 7035 was chosen as the main colour with alternative shades to mark different zones. Specific patterns / logos and designs were proposed as the system allows for transfers to be applied directly on to the system and sealed with an additional coat for a seamless finish. The Sika ComfortFloor® system produced a durable, functional, aesthetically pleasing floor finish that is designed to withstand significant footfall in the coming years.
Testimonial
“MJF were engaged to provide specialist resin coatings to the new flagship east stand development at Twickenham Stadium. I was particularly impressed with the team working ethos of MJF, bringing to the project a wealth of technical and market experience by advising our design team on the selection of products, which was key, given the demanding nature of the project. MJF showed exemplary levels of commitment to the project working around interfacing trades and to tight timescales. I would like to take the opportunity to thank them for supporting Willmott Dixon during the delivery of the Twickenham ESD project and would recommend them without reservation.”
